It’s Good Friday and we wish to extend a hand out to some seriously good people. We feel so honoured to have had the opportunity to have worked alongside some of the most profoundly talented individuals, in bringing our records to new found heights.

First, to James Osler who is a brother to both of us. Sharing a path with our favourite composer to bless this earth is the greatest honour for us. Your late late nights and early early mornings wreathed in tenacity and delirium have brought a wondrous dreamscape to the fabric of our art. We love you so so much.
To Jools Owen who is the beating pulse of so much magic behind the ethereal, longing horn lines which scatter the landscapes of many a song of ours. To Fraser Bowles for his incredible talent in making tangible, all those emotions we put to him as he soars in deep, meditative improvisation. To Richard for his unique tonal fingerprint which touches the music so deeply, and offers a hauntingly beautiful realm in its wake. To Hugo Scott, one of the truest artists we have come to know, for embodying the soul of the train for two wrongs. To Rhys Lovell for the depth and warmth you have brought with bow and heart to the music. To Rebecca bell for her incredible gift of embodying the music within her playing and offering a rock to her sweeping Melodies. To Shirley smart for her deeply moving performances though-out and finally to Owain Jenkins for opening up, with your generosity and genius, a new sonic journey which breathes even more rigour and depth into what is to come in the near future.

Happy Easter all!

With love and compassion,
F&R

ANNOUNCEMENTS!

TOUR TOUR.jpg

Today, we finally unveil the Knife, our most explosive song to date. "A stirring lead single that brings together choir-like vocal swells and tempered instrumentation, the whole thing eventually exploding under the weight of pressure, an exhilarating release of noise and energy." Tom Johnson - Gold Flake Paint.  listen to it now

With such an announcing, comes perhaps an even more exciting one in the unveiling of our 3rd album, which is to be a self titled record under our own imprint ‘The Road Records’ Out on May 24th. Pre-orders are available now for both the limited edition vinyl and cd's.

This record represents a deep dive into the notions of freedom, as well as the magnitude of expansive nature and what it means to live inside of it. Having moved to the deep Welsh countryside a few years ago, the two of us began working on a creative enterprise, turning what was a residential smallholding into an artistic homestead and production house, through the means of traditional building techniques. From replacing the old dairy with an analogue recording studio, and gifting previously grazed land to a nature recovery program, our vision is simple; to create a centre for artistic self- sustainability with the natural world at its core. Immersed in this new lifestyle, bound to a place after years of nomadic transition, our 3rd Album "SAMANA' offers an origin to a new model we seek to employ in sustaining uncompromising artistry in the UK.

We will be taking this record to the road in June for the "In Tune With The Infinite" Tour; an all curated event, which we are taking to a small number of unique spaces around the UK. For it, we will be bringing to you the full carnation of our live performance as a 7 piece, to perform our new album 'SAMANA’ in the sacred circle of the round. You will be immersed into an emotional dreamscape of vocals, bodhran, gongs, bells, horns, piano, electric guitars, double bass, drums, violin and cello.

We will also be joined on tour by fellow ‘Road Records’ artist - the incredible neo- classical ensemble ‘Pillow’.

With only a limited number of tickets available, and with our last sell - out show, we urge all to purchase tickets in advance: Get yours here!

The Knife

We are so excited to announce our heaviest and most powerful song to date, 'The Knife' which is out the 22nd March under our own imprint ‘The Road Records’ Jump on the presave link in our bio to capture the track.

“It feels to be a deliverance, a freeing of stored weight and emotion; the confrontation of somatic memory, an invitation for the physical self to shed these feelings stored,” Samana say of the track. “The last section of the song is a complete amalgamation of all these components - it feels to be a sonic representation of a vast mass of water bursting from the containment of a damn, a huge transformative release, like something breaking apart and away from something else, a confrontation, a shedding of a snakes skin.”

- Tom Johnson

Over the past 5 years, we have been working incredibly hard on an all-encompassing artistic venture out here from our smallholding in Wales. Words can’t quite express the profundity of Friday evening. To us it felt to be a coalescence of the powerful forces that constitute the project itself and those individuals involved who have taken it to heights we could never have anticipated. It was an evening of passion, honesty, love, transcendence and a willingness to give oneself to the depths of their emotions.

We’d like to pay huge gratitude to all of those who joined us for the evening. Playing to a full room of individuals who gave themselves fully to both performances, with open hearts, you elevated the evening to that of a spiritual experience for us. Being an all artist-curated event, your attendance facilitated every individual who partook in both projects, enabling each artist to be paid as they should be in the UK for the hard work that goes into curating such events. So too did your generosity help us raise £520 for the charity ‘Suicide & Co.’ We would also like to thank them for coming down to the evening and delivering a very informative and heartfelt speech in how the charity provides services for those bereaved individuals who are effected by suicide.

We would like to thank ‘Pillow’ for the most incredibly profound set of music, in making the evening what it was as an immensely powerful double bill.We would also like to thank Simon and co from St Michael for providing us with one of the most special venues this country has to offer. Finally, thank you to Richard Jones for his stunning, soaring violin brilliance, Fraser Bowles for his  deeply moving cello performance, Alfred Weedon for bringing the house down on double bass, to Jools Owen for his incredibly moving and heartfelt performance which brought goosebumps to us, and finally, with all our hearts to James Osler who defies all artistic and cognitive limitations. He provided both sets with a mystical magic, and worked tirelessly as ‘Nocturne Presents’ alongside both of us under our label imprint ‘The Road Records Studio’ in making this evening as uniquely profound as it was. Thank you for the beautiful photographs Rafiki Studio

This evening was proof, that artists have the power to be the change they want to see.
